I found it both informative and worrying. There is I believe a way to reduce flights into Heathrow. I believe that a sgnificant number of the flights are made by cargo planes (I have even seen it suggested that Heathrow is the main cargo hub for the UK). I do not see the necessity for this - why not have the main hub away from London? After all this is exactly what was done with maritime cargo a few years ago with the closure of the London docks.
